For the Crust:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 2 carrots, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tbsp paprika
- 1 tsp caraway seeds
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 cup frozen peas
- 4 large potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 1/4 cup milk
- 2 tbsp butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). In a skillet, brown ground beef with onions, carrots, and garlic until beef is cooked through.
- Stir in tomato paste, paprika, and caraway seeds, cooking for 1 minute. Add beef broth and simmer for 10 minutes until thickened, then mix in peas.
- Meanwhile, boil potatoes until tender, drain, and mash with milk, butter, salt, and pepper.
- Spread beef mixture in a baking dish, top with mashed potatoes, and bake for 20 minutes until golden.
