Description

Buttery, soft cinnamon rolls drowned in homemade caramel and crowned with toasted pecans, with a dramatic flip at the end for a stunning presentation.

For the Crust:

  • 1 package (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup chopped pecans, toasted

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Prepare the dough: In a bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk. Add sugar, melted butter, eggs, flour, and salt. Knead until smooth, let rise until doubled.
  2. Make filling: Mix softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Roll dough into rectangle, spread filling, roll tightly, and slice into 12 rolls.
  3. Prepare caramel: In saucepan, melt 1/2 cup butter with 1 cup brown sugar and heavy cream. Simmer until thickened. Pour into baking dish, sprinkle pecans.
  4. Arrange rolls over caramel, let rise 30 minutes. Bake at 350°F for 25-30 minutes until golden.
  5. Let cool 5 minutes, then flip onto serving plate so caramel drips over rolls. Serve warm.
