Description

Rich, chewy squares with a buttery shortbread base, gooey fudge filling, and crunchy toasted pecans.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Crust:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped pecans, toasted

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9-inch baking pan and line with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, cream butter and sugar until light. Mix in flour and salt to form a crumbly dough. Press evenly into the pan. Bake for 15 minutes until lightly golden.
  3. In a saucepan over low heat, combine sweetened condensed milk and chocolate chips, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat, stir in vanilla and half the pecans.
  4. Pour fudge mixture over baked crust, spreading evenly. Sprinkle remaining pecans on top. Bake for 20 minutes until set. Cool completely before cutting into squares.
