Description

A decadent appetizer featuring whole Camembert cheese wrapped in puff pastry, baked until golden and molten, perfect for cracking open and pouring over accompaniments.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Crust:

  • 1 whole Camembert cheese (8 oz/250g), rind on
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp fresh thyme leaves
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts
  • Crackers or sliced baguette, for serving

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unfold puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. Place Camembert in the center, then wrap pastry around cheese, sealing edges tightly. Trim excess pastry if needed.
  3. Brush pastry with beaten egg wash. Sprinkle with thyme and walnuts, pressing gently to adhere. Drizzle honey over top.
  4. Bake for 20-25 minutes until pastry is puffed and golden brown. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
  5. Serve warm with crackers or baguette. Crack open the pastry shell to reveal molten cheese for dipping.

Notes

You can customize the seasonings to taste.
