Description
A sweet and savory appetizer featuring caramelized apples, creamy brie, and flaky puff pastry, rolled and baked to golden perfection.
Ingredients
Scale
For the Crust:
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 2 medium apples, peeled and thinly sliced
- 4 oz brie cheese, rind removed and sliced
- 1/4 cup caramel sauce
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 1 tbsp powdered sugar (optional, for dusting)
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add apple slices, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Cook for 5-7 minutes until apples are tender and caramelized. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. Spread caramel sauce evenly over the pastry, leaving a 1-inch border. Layer brie slices and caramelized apples on top.
- Roll the pastry tightly from one long end to the other, sealing the edge with egg wash. Place seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the top with egg wash.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, until golden brown and puffed. Let cool for 5 minutes, then dust with powdered sugar if desired. Slice and serve warm.
