A sophisticated salad featuring sweet caramelized pears, tangy blue cheese, and crunchy walnuts over fresh greens with a light vinaigrette.

For the Crust:

  • 2 ripe pears, cored and sliced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 6 cups mixed salad greens
  • 1/2 cup crumbled blue cheese
  • 1/2 cup walnuts, toasted
  • 1/4 cup red onion, thinly sliced
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add pear slices and brown sugar, cooking until pears are tender and caramelized, about 5-7 minutes. Set aside to cool.
  2. In a large bowl, combine salad greens, red onion, toasted walnuts, and crumbled blue cheese.
  3. Whisk together olive oil, balsamic vinegar, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper in a small bowl to make the vinaigrette.
  4. Add the caramelized pears to the salad bowl, drizzle with vinaigrette, and toss gently to combine. Serve immediately.
