For the Crust:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3 large eggs
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1/4 cup dark rum
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp ground allspice
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla and rum.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice.
- Gradually mix dry ingredients into the wet mixture, alternating with milk, until just combined.
- Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Let cool in pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
