For the Crust:
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add buttermilk, oil, eggs, and vanilla. Mix until smooth.
- In a small bowl, combine cinnamon and brown sugar for the swirl.
- Pour half the batter into the pan. Sprinkle with half the cinnamon-sugar mixture and chocolate chips. Repeat with remaining batter and topping.
- Bake for 30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool before slicing.
