For the Crust:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup whole milk
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8×8-inch baking pan.
  2. In a bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla.
  3. Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl. Gradually mix into the butter mixture, alternating with milk.
  4. Spread batter evenly into the prepared pan and bake for 20-25 minutes or until edges are golden.
  5. Let cool completely, then dust with powdered sugar and cut into squares.
