A delightful twist on traditional baklava, these golden nests combine flaky phyllo dough, sweet coconut, crunchy almonds, and a honey syrup for a dessert that’s both elegant and irresistibly tasty.

For the Crust:
- 1 package phyllo dough, thawed
- 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup shredded coconut
- 1 cup almonds, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground cardamom
- 1 cup honey
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- Whole almonds for garnish
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Brush a muffin tin with melted butter.
- Layer 2 sheets of phyllo dough in each muffin cup, brushing each layer with butter, letting edges overhang to form a nest shape.
- Mix coconut, chopped almonds, sugar, cinnamon, and cardamom. Spoon mixture into each phyllo nest.
- Fold overhanging phyllo over filling, brush tops with butter, and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden.
- Meanwhile, simmer honey, water, and lemon juice for 10 minutes. Pour warm syrup over baked nests and garnish with whole almonds. Let cool before serving.
