A classic comfort food featuring dried beef in a creamy sauce served over toast.

For the Crust:

  • 8 oz dried beef, rinsed and chopped
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups whole milk

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the flour and whisk for about 1 minute to form a roux.
  2. Gradually whisk in the milk until smooth and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and let simmer until thickened.
  3. Stir in the chopped beef, season with salt and pepper to taste, and serve over toasted bread.
