Description

Delicious bite-sized treats with a crisp exterior, gooey apple-caramel center, topped with crunchy nuts and drizzled with extra caramel.


Ingredients

For the Crust:

  • 2 large apples, peeled and finely diced
  • 1 cup caramel sauce, divided
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup chopped mixed nuts (such as pecans and walnuts)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • Cooking spray

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a mini muffin tin with cooking spray.
  2. In a bowl, mix diced apples with 1/2 cup caramel sauce. Set aside.
  3. In another bowl, combine flour, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Stir in melted butter until mixture is crumbly.
  4. Press about 1 tablespoon of the oat mixture into each muffin cup to form a base. Spoon a heaping teaspoon of the apple-caramel mixture into each cup.
  5. Sprinkle chopped nuts over the top, then cover with another tablespoon of the oat mixture, pressing lightly.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until golden and crisp. Let cool for 5 minutes, then drizzle with remaining caramel sauce before serving.

Notes

You can customize the seasonings to taste.
