For the Crust:
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup warm water
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 1 egg
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup mixed berries (raspberries, blueberries, blackberries)
- 1/4 cup jam (raspberry or apricot)
- 1 egg yolk for brushing
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water with a pinch of sugar. Let sit until foamy, about 5 minutes.
- In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Add yeast mixture, milk, melted butter, and egg. Mix until a soft dough forms.
- Knead dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled, about 1 hour.
- Punch down dough and roll into a long rope. Form a ring on a baking sheet, pinching ends together. Arrange berries and jam in the center, then fold dough over filling, sealing edges.
- Brush with egg yolk, cover, and let rise 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden. Cool slightly before serving.
