Description

A festive and delicious puff pastry appetizer shaped like a Christmas tree, filled with pesto and cheese, perfect for holiday gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Crust:

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 1/2 cup basil pesto
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cherry tomatoes or red pepper strips for decoration (optional)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. Cut into a large triangle shape for the tree, then cut smaller triangles along the sides for branches.
  3. Spread pesto evenly over the pastry, leaving a small border. Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top.
  4. Fold the pastry in half along the center, pressing edges to seal. Twist the branches slightly to form the tree shape.
  5. Brush with egg wash, season with salt and pepper, and decorate with cherry tomatoes or pepper strips if desired.
  6. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown and puffed. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

You can customize the seasonings to taste.
