For the Crust:
- 1 large yellow onion, thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
- 1/2 cup dried cranberries
- 1 pre-made pizza dough or flatbread crust
- 1 cup shredded Gruyère cheese
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat, add onions, and cook for 15-20 minutes until caramelized, stirring occasionally. Stir in balsamic vinegar and cook for 1 minute more.
- Roll out pizza dough on a baking sheet. Spread caramelized onions evenly over the dough, then sprinkle with dried cranberries and shredded Gruyère cheese.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes until crust is golden and cheese is bubbly. Remove from oven, sprinkle with thyme, salt, and pepper. Slice and serve warm.
