Description

A twist on the classic sweet churro, these savory versions are crispy on the outside, fluffy inside, and served with a creamy whipped brie dip drizzled with spicy chili honey.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Crust:

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 8 oz brie cheese, rind removed
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1 teaspoon chili flakes
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine water, butter, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
  2. Remove from heat and stir in flour until a dough forms. Return to low heat and cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly.
  3. Transfer dough to a bowl and let cool slightly. Beat in eggs one at a time until smooth. Stir in Parmesan, garlic powder, and smoked paprika.
  4. Heat oil in a deep pot to 375°F. Pipe dough into 4-inch strips using a star tip and fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes. Drain on paper towels.
  5. For the dip, blend brie and heavy cream until smooth and whipped. In a small saucepan, warm honey with chili flakes for 5 minutes. Drizzle chili honey over whipped brie and sprinkle with parsley before serving.
