For the Crust:
- 12 lasagna noodles, cooked al dente
- 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 4 cups whole milk, warmed
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook for 2 minutes until golden.
- Gradually whisk in warm milk until smooth. Cook, stirring constantly, until thickened, about 5-7 minutes.
- Remove from heat. Stir in Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, nutmeg, salt, and pepper until sauce is silky.
- Spread a thin layer of white sauce in the baking dish. Layer 4 noodles, half the chicken, and 1/3 of the sauce. Repeat layers, ending with sauce on top.
- Sprinkle mozzarella evenly over the top. Bake for 25-30 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
- Let rest for 10 minutes. Garnish with parsley before serving.
