Description

A nutritious and savory twist on traditional bagels, these flagels (flat bagels) are packed with spinach and cottage cheese for a protein-rich, low-carb breakfast or snack.

For the Crust:

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup fresh spinach, finely chopped
  • 1 cup low-fat cottage cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, mix flour, baking powder, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt. Add spinach, cottage cheese, egg, and olive oil, and stir until a dough forms.
  3. Divide dough into 8 equal portions, shape each into a flat oval (flagel shape), place on baking sheet, and sprinkle with sesame seeds if using. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
