Description

Grilled halloumi skewers with a sweet and savory glaze of spiced honey and fresh citrus zest, perfect as an appetizer or light meal.


Ingredients

For the Crust:

  • 8 oz halloumi cheese, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 red bell pepper, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 red onion, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Wooden or metal skewers

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for 30 minutes to prevent burning.
  2. Preheat grill or grill pan to medium-high heat.
  3. Thread halloumi cubes, bell pepper, and onion alternately onto skewers.
  4. Brush skewers with olive oil and season lightly with salt and pepper.
  5. Grill skewers for 3-4 minutes per side, until halloumi is golden and vegetables are charred.
  6. In a small bowl, mix honey, smoked paprika, and cumin. Brush over skewers during the last minute of grilling.
  7. Remove skewers from heat, sprinkle with lemon and orange zest, and serve immediately.

Notes

You can customize the seasonings to taste.
