Description
Elegant, bite-sized appetizers featuring creamy brie coated in crunchy toasted walnuts and drizzled with a sweet-tart cranberry honey glaze.
Ingredients
Scale
For the Crust:
- 1 wheel (8 oz) brie cheese, chilled
- 1 cup walnuts, finely chopped
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup dried cranberries
- 1/4 cup honey
- 2 tbsp water
- 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp olive oil (for frying)
- Fresh thyme sprigs (for garnish)
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- Cut the chilled brie into 1-inch cubes, ensuring they are firm for easy handling.
- Set up a breading station: place flour in one bowl, beaten egg in another, and toasted walnuts mixed with salt and pepper in a third.
- Dredge each brie cube in flour, dip in egg, then coat thoroughly in the walnut mixture, pressing gently to adhere.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Fry brie bites for 1-2 minutes per side until golden brown, then transfer to a paper towel-lined plate.
- In a small saucepan, combine cranberries, honey, water, and balsamic vinegar. Simmer for 5-7 minutes until slightly thickened, then let cool.
- Arrange brie bites on a serving platter, drizzle with cranberry honey glaze, and garnish with fresh thyme. Serve immediately.
