Description

A savory, aromatic garlic bread topped with fresh tomatoes and basil, perfect as an appetizer or side dish.

For the Crust:

  • 1 loaf French bread or baguette
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 medium tomatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (optional)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the softened butter, olive oil, minced garlic, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  3. Slice the bread in half lengthwise and place cut-side up on the prepared baking sheet. Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over both halves.
  4. Arrange the tomato slices over the garlic butter, then sprinkle with chopped basil and optional mozzarella cheese.
  5. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the bread is crispy and the cheese (if using) is melted and bubbly.
  6. Remove from the oven, let cool for 2-3 minutes, then slice and serve warm.

You can customize the seasonings to taste.
