Description

A savory and aromatic garlic bread topped with fresh tomatoes and basil, perfect as an appetizer or side dish.

For the Crust:

  • 1 loaf French bread or baguette
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 medium tomatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (optional)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together softened butter, olive oil, minced garlic, salt, and pepper.
  3. Slice the bread in half lengthwise and spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over the cut sides.
  4. Arrange the tomato slices on top of the buttered bread and sprinkle with chopped basil and mozzarella cheese if using.
  5. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the bread is crispy and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  6. Remove from oven, let cool for a few minutes, then slice and serve warm.

Notes

You can customize the seasonings to taste.
