For the Crust:
- 1 lb beef stew meat, cubed
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 4 cups beef broth
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 12 oz wide egg noodles
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 2 tablespoons water
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- Heat oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Brown the beef cubes on all sides, then remove and set aside.
- Add onion and garlic to the pot, sauté until softened, about 5 minutes. Sprinkle with flour and stir to coat.
- Return beef to the pot, add beef broth and thyme. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 1.5 hours until beef is tender.
- Cook egg noodles according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
- Mix 2 tablespoons water with 2 tablespoons flour to make a slurry. Stir into the beef mixture and simmer for 5 minutes until gravy thickens.
- Add cooked noodles to the pot, stir to combine. Season with salt and pepper. Serve hot.
