Description

A savory and slightly sweet appetizer featuring tender mushrooms caramelized with garlic, topped with creamy feta, crunchy walnuts, and a spicy honey drizzle.

For the Crust:

  • 1 lb (450g) cremini mushrooms, cleaned and halved
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup crumbled feta cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts, toasted
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add mushrooms and cook for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they release their liquid and start to brown.
  2. Reduce heat to medium. Add minced garlic, thyme, salt, and black pepper. Cook for another 3-4 minutes, stirring frequently, until garlic is fragrant and mushrooms are caramelized.
  3. Remove skillet from heat. Transfer mushrooms to a serving plate and sprinkle with crumbled feta and toasted walnuts.
  4. In a small bowl, mix honey and red pepper flakes. Drizzle the hot honey mixture over the mushrooms and serve immediately.

Notes

You can customize the seasonings to taste.
