Description

A savory-sweet tart wreath featuring caramelized pears and tangy blue cheese, wrapped in flaky puff pastry for an elegant appetizer or main course.

For the Crust:

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 2 ripe pears, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup crumbled blue cheese
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1 tbsp fresh thyme leaves
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter and brown sugar. Add pear slices and cinnamon, cooking until pears are tender and caramelized, about 5-7 minutes. Set aside to cool.
  3. Roll out puff pastry on the prepared baking sheet. Cut slits around the edges, leaving the center intact. Arrange caramelized pears and blue cheese over the center.
  4. Fold pastry edges over the filling, overlapping to form a wreath shape. Brush with egg wash and sprinkle with thyme, salt, and pepper.
  5. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until pastry is golden brown and puffed. Let cool slightly before serving.
