Description

An elegant appetizer featuring creamy whipped brie, sweet fig jam, spicy hot honey, crunchy walnuts, and fragrant fresh thyme on crispy crostini.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Crust:

  • 1 baguette, sliced into 1/2-inch thick rounds
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 8 ounces brie cheese, rind removed and softened
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup fig jam
  • 2 tablespoons hot honey (or regular honey with a pinch of red pepper flakes)
  • 1/4 cup walnuts, toasted and chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Arrange baguette slices on a baking sheet, brush both sides with olive oil, and bake for 8-10 minutes until golden and crisp. Let cool.
  2. In a small bowl, combine softened brie and butter. Whip with a fork or electric mixer until smooth and creamy. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper.
  3. Spread each crostini with a generous layer of whipped brie.
  4. Top with a small dollop of fig jam.
  5. Drizzle with hot honey to taste.
  6. Sprinkle with toasted walnuts and fresh thyme leaves. Serve immediately.

Notes

You can customize the seasonings to taste. For a milder heat, use regular honey instead of hot honey. Toast the walnuts in a dry pan over medium heat for 2-3 minutes until fragrant.
