For the Crust:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 (30 oz) package frozen shredded hash browns, thawed
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: chopped fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
1. Prepare the Crust:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook ground beef with onion and garlic until beef is browned and onion is translucent. Drain excess fat. Season with salt and pepper.
- In a large bowl, mix together cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, and milk until smooth.
- Stir in the hash browns, cooked beef mixture, and 1 1/2 cups of cheddar cheese until well combined.
- Spread the mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle remaining 1/2 cup cheddar cheese on top.
- Bake uncovered for 30-35 minutes, until bubbly and cheese is golden. Let stand for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with parsley if desired.
Notes
You can customize the seasonings to taste. For extra flavor, add a dash of Worcestershire sauce or paprika to the beef mixture.
