Description

A hearty and cheesy casserole made with ground beef, crispy hash browns, and a creamy sauce, perfect for a comforting family dinner.

For the Crust:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 (30 oz) package frozen shredded hash browns, thawed
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: chopped fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook ground beef with onion and garlic until beef is browned and onion is translucent. Drain excess fat. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. In a large bowl, mix together cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, and milk until smooth.
  4. Stir in the hash browns, cooked beef mixture, and 1 1/2 cups of cheddar cheese until well combined.
  5. Spread the mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle remaining 1/2 cup cheddar cheese on top.
  6. Bake uncovered for 30-35 minutes, until bubbly and cheese is golden. Let stand for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with parsley if desired.

Notes

You can customize the seasonings to taste. For extra flavor, add a dash of Worcestershire sauce or paprika to the beef mixture.
