A flavorful and tender grilled chicken shawarma wrap, marinated with Middle Eastern spices, grilled to perfection, and served in warm pita with fresh veggies and tangy sauce for an authentic street-style experience.

For the Crust:

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs, thinly sliced
  • 4 large pita breads
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 3 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 large tomato, diced
  • 1 cucumber, sliced
  • 1/2 red onion, thinly sliced
  • Fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust:

  1. In a bowl, mix yogurt, lemon juice, olive oil, garlic, cumin, paprika, turmeric, cinnamon, salt, and pepper to create the marinade.
  2. Add chicken slices to the marinade, coat evenly, cover, and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  3. Preheat grill or grill pan to medium-high heat. Grill chicken for 5-7 minutes per side until cooked through and slightly charred.
  4. Warm pita breads on the grill for 30 seconds per side until soft and pliable.
  5. Assemble wraps by placing grilled chicken, tomato, cucumber, red onion, and parsley in the center of each pita.
  6. Drizzle with extra yogurt or tahini sauce if desired, then fold and serve immediately.
